Can I fast for longer than the recommended time?

Recommended is 14 to 18hrs so how about 20hrs?

This is a question that is often asked however the answer is subject to what foods you consumed the day or night before.
Fasting without a decent metabolism will just slow down fat loss.
If you did consume plenty of slow digesting carbohydrates than yes your could.
